Returning to Safety, Trust, and Inner Strength

Duration: 7 sessions (July–September 2025)
First session: July 16, 2025

When Kenna, 40, the creator of Root to Root a community dedicated to grounded living and connection with nature, first came to our work together, she described feeling stuck, angry, and overwhelmed. Her emotions were clouding her ability to feel or trust her intuition. She shared that she was often caught in stories and self-doubt, saying, “I was definitely in victimhood… lack of trust in timing, and in myself.”

For the past five years, she had been navigating strong energetic currents in her system that left her easily overstimulated. She wanted to feel more grounded, connected to her body, and able to meet life with trust rather than control.

Phase 1: Rebuilding Safety in the Body

Our first three sessions focused on helping Kenna find safety within her own body. We worked with grounding and the hands — using touch, awareness, and small movement to rebuild her sense of stability and presence. Over time, she began to notice moments of calm and connection returning, describing a growing ability to stay with sensation rather than pull away when things felt intense.

Phase 2: Reconnecting
with Intuition and Allowing Emotion

Once safety was re-established, we began exploring trust — in her process, her timing, and her inner signals. Kenna noticed more internal space and said, “Every week I have more capacity to hold more but also to separate myself from trauma and my thoughts. I feel more like the observer and I’m getting sucked in less and less.”

A big shift came when she allowed herself to feel anger. “In the beginning I didn’t want to feel my anger,” she said. “But feeling safe to feel it opened up so much within me. It allowed me to stop seeking control and instead allow.”

Phase 3: Meeting the Parts in Pain

Midway through our work, we began meeting the parts of her that were holding pain or contraction — not to fix or analyze them, but to listen. This phase was about bringing compassion to what had been pushed away. Through presence and awareness, she began recognizing that what she once saw as “symptoms” were actually invitations for deeper integration.

Phase 4: Integration and Emerging Strength

In our final sessions, Kenna described the process as a “slow unfolding.” She noticed that each session continued to work through her system for weeks afterward, revealing new layers and insights.

By the end, she spoke of a new strength and patience arising:

“I feel a strength and centeredness coming online that is new, like a fire building within me. I feel the courage to move forward into my purpose flickering, the flames being fanned. I feel the energy and the power behind my dreams beginning to swirl around in me. I can taste the newness, and I’m patient at the same time.”

Kenna finished this phase of our work feeling more grounded, less constricted, and able to accept what is — even when uncomfortable. “All in all, I feel less constricted. I’m able to accept what’s here, even when it’s uncomfortable.”

Reflections

Throughout our work together, I witnessed Kenna’s gradual return to inner trust. What began as fear and overwhelm unfolded into presence, patience, and a quiet confidence in her own process. Her journey shows how safety in the body becomes the foundation for transformation — how, when met with presence, even the most charged emotions can reveal strength and clarity underneath.

Kenna continues on this journey, deepening her connection to her body and her purpose.

Collage: “All Is Part of the Game” – by Kenna

At the close of our process, Kenna created a collage that captures her inner transformation. The woman in the red coat represents a more grounded, confident version of herself — rooted in freedom and play. The red, appearing throughout her year, carries the energy of strength, vitality, and self-trust.

Her expression says, “Don’t you see? It’s all part of the game.” A reflection of her new relationship to life — less fear, more curiosity. The cat beside her symbolizes the shadow she has befriended: intuition, mystery, and the wisdom that comes from embracing darkness as an ally.

Behind her, the lupine flowers remind her that thriving begins in the right conditions — both inner and outer.

The tree and sun above her head represent clarity and rootedness, while the butterflies speak to transformation — the ongoing metamorphosis of mind and soul. Together, they mirror her words: “Change is here.”
